COVID-19 Update

Advice for Parents/Carers about attending appointments and home visits.

We recognise that we cannot eliminate risk but are aiming to provide guidelines which minimise risk while continuing to provide the ‘best care in challenging circumstances’ HCPC.

As a company we are keen to maintain our role under keyworker guidelines, providing necessary and supportive assessments and interventions.

You will be contacted prior to any appointment by the therapist to ascertain the best setting, method and any alternative considerations to ensure safety of yourselves and the therapist.

Appointments will be offered via telephone or online using Zoom (similar to Skype but more secure) where this is possible.   Some face-to-face appointments can be offered in our clinic in case of urgent need only (for the time being, maintaining all government led guidelines).

However please inform us and cancel / postpone any appointments if:

  • You, or someone in your house, has a new continuous cough, loss of taste or smell or a temperature the government advice is to self-isolate for 14 days. Please do not come into our clinic or have a home visit during this 14 day period.
  • You or your child feel unwell or have a temperature.

Please only attend your appointment at the set time and do not arrive early.  This is to ensure that we have cleaning time between appointments but also that there is no cross over of individuals on the premises.  In the same way we will be more rigorous in maintaining scheduled treatment timings.

The appointment may involve physical contact within the 2 metre separation distance, this is a necessary part of the assessment/therapy and will be kept to a minimum. Your therapist may wear fresh disposable 3ply face mask and gloves for each appointment.

Only one parent/carer must attend the appointment with the child unless an additional person is necessary – this must be decided in consultation with us.

On attending the clinic:

  • You will be asked to wash your hands on entering and leaving the centre. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose with unwashed hands. You must follow good hygiene practice including washing your hands and catching sneezes and coughs in a tissue which you dispose of immediately.
  • Please do not shake hands or touch others when you visit our clinic or have a home visit.
  • Where a therapist is visiting your home they will ask to use handwashing facilities.
  • Where a therapist is visiting your home they will endeavour to use the toys and equipment you have in the home rather than bring in toys / equipment which is then used at the centre and across other settings.

We ask that you bear with us at this time.  There will be times when a therapist is unable to work due to their own need to self-isolate or presence of symptoms or ill health for themselves or their family.  We fully recognise that either party may need to cancel at short notice and no cancellations fees will be incurred.

If you need to cancel an appointment because of the risk of coronavirus, please call or email us so we can monitor the impact. We will explain if we have to cancel an appointment if any of our staff members need to go into self-isolation. We will always offer you an alternative on-line therapy session if this might be suitable for you and your child.

Please note in using the centre that there is currently NO ball pool.
